Thanks! Just making the menu for the kid table at my Christmas party! What desserts are good for kids aged 3-11?
I would have a fruit tray with dipping sauce (caramel and chocolate)- maybe even a chocolate fountain.
I would also have a cookie bar- sugar cookies in Christmas shapes with various icings (white, red, green), sprinkles, etc. that they can decorate the cookies with.
Chocolate fondue.
Platter of brownies, squares, etc.
Snowflake gourmet sugar cookies.
Christmas Pud.:
2 slices of bread
1 cup brown sugar
850g of mixed fruit, glace cherries, sultanas, raisins.
1 cup flour
5g baking powder
4 eggs
5ml brandy
1. Grind the bread into 2 cups of bread crumbs.
2. Add the flour, eggs and baking powder. Mix thoroughly in a mixer.
3. Add the brown sugar and mix again.
4. In a separate bowl, mix the fruit thoroughly.
5. Add the fruit to the mixture as well as 5ml of brandy.
6. mix.
7. In an upside - down bowl, ( you can buy specially shaped ones) thickly grease it with butter.
8. put 2 layers of baking paper down the bottom, and put the mixture in it.
9. Put 2 layers of baking paper and 1 sheet of aluminium foil over the top and secure it with a string, tied just below the rim.
10. Place in a pot of boiling water and let it cook for 6 hours. Alternatively, you can cook it for 4 hours, and on the day it is going to be eaten, another 2 hours. Either way is fine.
11. Serve and enjoy! What desserts are good for kids aged 3-11?
Cupcakes
Platter of brownies
Sugar cookies
Also you can do chocolate dipped marshmallows or maybe some little petit fours desserts. those are so good because they are small finger size servings and you can buy a box of them with variety of different kinds of cakes/desserts. There is also mini fruit tarts that kids love because the fruit is glazed and its so delicious.
Having a slew of kids around, I will tell you....kids do not "do" fancy. They do not appreciate the hard work of fancy food. They like chocolate, they like icecream. They like anything they can grab with a hand and ram it into their faces. Top three- icecream sandwiches, brownies, chocolate chip cookies. Oh, or peanut butter fudge.
All...lol
