So I just got hired at cracker barrel. I have little experience (I worked as a cocktail waitress at a sports bar, like 3 years ago). So I'm so nervous. The store is just opening and they're giving us training and I guess we get to do alot of "restaurant role playing". I'm kind of scared of that cause I'm guessing all the managers are going to act like upset customers and test our responses. I need advice on the whole thing, any tips for doing well and avoiding the mistakes that every newbie makes. It's greatly appreciated.New job...serving..need advice?
Just be sure to wear a smile no matter how much tension is put on you. Also make sure to use proper manners, once you become familiar with customers let them know.. use names, ask if their having their favorite meal.. etc.. stand tall, dont slouch.. walk with confidence and if you are under extreme pressure make sure you dont let your tone of voice get to loud or angry.. and if you dont know the answer to a question, dont say "I DONT KNOW" that is the worst thing you can do! let them know you can't answer that question but would be more than happy to get a manager or someone else who could. good luck
